Three small envelopes: one contains pressed heath from Wicklow (1867-69?), one contains pressed remains of laurel & ivy from Avoca, Co Wicklow (1867-69?) & one contains pressed remains of flowers from Katie (Burne’s?) grave (1881?), according to annotations made in hand of Mrs Buchanan. The first two samples may have been obtained during the Buchanans’ visit to Ireland in 1867-79, and the third one following the death of Katie Burne, great-great-niece of William Buchanan, in 1881 |
